The dark green leaves are palmate, with each \u201cfinger tip\u201d rounded, distinguishing it clearly from the native Norway maple (<em>A. platanoides<\/em>). The seeds, or samaras, are joined as in-line pairs, in contrast to many maple species whose samaras are V- or U-shaped.<\/p>\n<p>Miyabe\u2019s maple was planted in the early 1930s at Mustila on the warm, steep Etel\u00e4rinne (Southern slope), where it is protected from north winds by pine forest.
